How complexity arises from simplicity. The concept is almost too clean: start with one note. Add one instrument at a time. Build to full ensemble. Then strip back to one note.
But something changes — the single note sounds different at the end than at the beginning. Because you heard what it could become. That's emergence.
The protocol: each instrument enters at a mathematically determined interval. No randomness. The complexity is purely additive. And yet the full ensemble at 1:45 has qualities none of the individual parts predicted.
